If you have a niche blog on a particular subject then use the steps below to increase traffic to your blog, using the social networking tool twitter.
1.
Step 1
Create an Account on Twitter. The name is very important. Your profile name should be linked to your blog in some way. For example if your blog is about ‘Soccer’, then try a name like ‘SoccerMad’ or ‘SoccerExpert’. The trick may be finding something meaningful that has not already been taken.
2.
Step 2
Choose an Icon for your account that also reflects your name and blog. Taking the same soccer example, have a picture of the World Cup. You are trying to create a branding that allows the user to know what you are about based on your name and icon.
3.
Step 3
You now need to network and build a base of followers. The more effort you put into this task the better your results. Do a ‘find person’ in twitter and search on the keywords of your blog. In our example, ‘Soccer’ or ‘Football’. Find other profiles with similar interests. ‘Follow’ these profiles and hopefully the will follow you back.
4.
Step 4
Spend time developing your social network. Get interested in their blogs and tweets. You are trying to build a fan base to your blog. Have regular twitter updates to keep contact frequent. Make sure your updates reflect any activity in your blog, give a taster in the tweet with details in the blog.
5.
Step 5
Use the Twitter search to look for people commenting on some of your keywords. Using the soccer example, search for “world cup” and see what people are saying. As in Step 3, follow the person and start to network. They may follow you back and you’re following and therefore traffic to your blog will also increase.
