f you've got a blog for your business, you're headed in the right direction. Blogs require little upkeep aside from regular posting. But design matters too, so I'd like to give you some tips to improve your blog's look. The best thing about these tips is that you don't have to be a designer to implement them!

Do something different. In order for your blog to stand out from the competition, you've got to think outside of the box. So why not explore a different color scheme than others? No one said beige was the only professional color! For example, if you're a landscaping business or any other "green" enterprise, the site doesn't have to look like the lawn--be different and professional by exploring new colors and layouts!

Put functionality first. If you want people to comment, make it easy for them to do so. There are a wide range of features you can explore in your blogging dashboard to direct comments easily. An easy way to make your design more functional is to add a script or plug-in that makes your blog design even better. Definitely consider what you want the blog to do for readers--offer valuable links, give them a place to comment or ask questions, enable them to inquire about your business, and anything else a blog should do.

Give the details attention. There are many areas on blogs that can be overlooked. What about the comment design or post footer looks? Give these attention so every area of the blog is clean and functional--not just the background color or banner!

Ask a friend. No one expects you to be a design guru, especially if you're not in the design business. Many forums are available online, or you can ask friends which blogging platforms work best. They may be able to help you with designs. Best of all, if you do a little searching for templates and other tutorials, you can add any function to your blog.
